Timber Trespass and Timber Damage Assessments

Even though the risk of significant losses from fire, wind, ice or flooding is relatively low, it sometimes occurs and we can assist landowners determine the magnitude of the loss and assist them with any potential casualty loss calculations that may be appropriate. We may also be able to assist with the potential salvage of the damaged timber depending upon the size, scope, and type of damage experienced.  In the past, we have assisted insurance adjusters estimate timber related damages associated with several Gulf of Mexico related hurricanes that greatly impacted standing timber in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.  Additionally, if any of your timber has been wrongfully harvested, we can also provide an estimate of the loss by measuring and tallying the number of stumps by species and product class.  If any of your timber has been wrongfully harvested or stolen, it is important that you first contact the Office of Forestry in the state in which the trespass occurred and then contact an attorney to better understand the legal standards that must be met before you can recoup your loss.
